As people reflect on the wild life of Dennis Hopper, his many talents are emerging.  He’s mostly known as being an actor, hellraiser and cultural icon.   Turns out, his talents ran deeper than most people know.  Sure his acting credits number over 200 projects.  But he also wrote, directed and even edited different film projects.   He co-wrote, directed and acted in Easy Rider, the film that defined his generation.

More surprising:  he was an acclaimed photographer, visual artist and sculptor.  Here are samples of his visual artworks.

Beginning July 11, a retrospective of 200 pieces of Hopper’s work will be exhibited at L.A’s Museum of Contemporary Art in a show curated by another multi-talented person — artist/director Julian Schnabel.

Here’s a 2009 British newspaper interview with Hopper in which he discusses his life and art.
